The current practice of wound documentation in hospitals predominantly relies on the Photo-Print-Paste (P-P-P) method, which can be time-consuming. The average time dedicated to documenting patient wounds typically varies between 20 to 60 minutes, influenced by factors such as complications, the number of wounds, and the tools employed, including rulers, acetate tracing, and digital cameras, followed by downloads and uploads into electronic medical records (EMR).

The introduction of a wound capture application presents a significant advancement in this process. This app allows both providers and patients to accurately identify the location of wounds on the body and to calculate dimensions using an augmented reality (AR) ruler. Furthermore, it facilitates note-taking, the selection and review of previous images related to the patient's wound from a mobile device, and permits seamless data upload into the patient's EMR with a single click. The application also includes trend analysis features that offer real-time insights into wound progression based on historical imaging.
